SBD - SunShine Flowers

Hi everyone it’s Ali, and this week I’m sharing another card design using the Sunshine flower set by sunshine & Bee designs. These images are a great fun to colour and I’ve decided to do a no line colouring technique using my spectrum noir markers and Arteza pro pencils to bring the images alive.

TUTORIAL:
I stamped some small sunflowers on to a Neenah classic white card stock with my Inkon3 fade ink pad. I then colour in the petals using YG1 & YG2, the centre in MB1 & MB3 then made dots in MB4, for the leaves I used DG1, DG2 & DG 3. Once the coloured images have dried I then went back in to shade and define the images with my pencil colours to bring out some shadows and highlights.

For the background, I trimmed a lilac card stock to A6 size and partially stencilled a pattern with some distress oxide ink in seedless preserves creating a little fade towards the centre. I then created a double frame using some pearlescent lilac and Ivory card by die cutting them using some stitched nesting rectangle dies. I made the ivory frame slightly larger so it shows around the outer edge once I adhere the Pearlescent lilac frame on top, then mounted the frame onto the stencilled background with some foam tape that I cut into thin strips.

I then die cut a script word sentiment 3 times in white, lilac and matte gold then offset the words as I layered them on top of each other keeping the gold in front. I then arrange the sunflowers and leaves on top and at the bottom of the card with foam tape, reserving the centre space for the sentiment. Finishing off I added a white embossed subtext on some black card and placed it beneath the script sentiment and added some coloured half round pearls to the ‘i’s and in certain places then attached the completed design onto a white card base.

I find using alcohol markers to colour then going over the image to define the shading with pencils is a great technique, I have never done it until I made this card and I love the result! I think I will be doing this more often and I definitely think you should give it a go as well!
