Rain or Shine

Hi everyone, so today I made a card using this cute stamps by clearly besotted  I’ve finally get a chance to use this stamp after it’s been staring at me for weeks! Best part was colouring these critters! But as always I start with my background. I had an idea of how I wanted it, inspired by the rain or shine sentiment from the same stamp set.

TUTORIAL: I ink blended on some Neenah solar white with oxide inks in Mustard SeedSpiced MarmaladeDusty Concord and Faded Jeans. Then I added some splatters by splattering water onto the blended background and lifting off the excess with a paper towel.

For the light or sunny part of the background I lightly stencilled the sun rays  coming out of the left top corner to represent ‘shine’. For the darker part of the background I tried to stencil some stars but it did not show up so well so I got out my glossy accent and drag some thin and short diagonal lines, this will represent ‘Rain’.

I chose the bunny with a Kite for the bright ‘shine’ area and the fox with an umbrella for the dark ‘rain’ area. I used my arteza pro pencils to colour in the images. I also used some raw twine to connect the kite to the bunny.

I die cut a frame and mounted it onto the background with some thin foam tape and position the images accordingly. Final touches before I adhere the design on to a white card base by adding some light yellow gems on to the light areas and dark blues on the dark area as you know I do love a little bling! Then white heat embossed the sentiment. I only stamped what I want by masking off the words I did not want.

Recently I’ve been enjoy doing the no-line colouring with pencils as you can see from some of my previous blog posts. I have been experimenting with different colouring mediums and I think I might explore water colouring at some point too. But if there is any other colouring medium you’d recommend me to try let me know in the comments. Thank you for visiting and I hope this card has inspired you today.
