Sending all my love - Anglaise Broderie Heart

Hello there!

I’m back with a new card design using the beautiful Anglaise Broderie heart nesting die set from Claina Palmer Designs I want to continue creating colourful cards, so I took out my gouache paint set and pallet and got messy.

TUTORIAL:
I begin by die cutting the heart out out of white card stock and temporarily adhering it in my preferred position onto a white A5 hammered card stock then prepped the panel for some water colour paint explosions by taping down the sides with washi tape onto a sturdy board to keep it from moving and to prevent any warping whilst wet.

I then dabbed each colour direct from the tube into individual pans of my pallet then added a few drops of water. I chose the colours Emerald Green, Violet Red, Cerulean Blue, Deep Yellow and Magenta. Then with my medium sized paintbrush, I applied the colours onto an acrylic block to smoosh it onto the heart and dragging the paint off the heart and onto the background creating a splashed effect. I did this with my chosen colours adding more paint on to the acrylic block as I needed and adding some splatters as I go along. Until I am happy with the result, I then left the panel to air dry with the heart still temporarily attached.

While the acrylic gouache is drying, I die cut a few more hearts for stacking. In total I made 7 layers of the large heart and took the 3 from the 7 layers to cut out the smaller heart (the 3rd die from the set) as I wanted to raise the centre heart a little more. I used scissors to cut the small heart out as the die does not cut out the 3rd die completely,  but it’s not a hassle to do at all.

Once the watercolour panel has dried, I removed the main heart die that was temporarily adhered to the card stock and used the 2nd largest die from the A5 stitched frame die to tidy up the panel and for a neat edge. Then I used a craft knife to carefully cut out the centre heart to stack up the 3 cut out layers. I stacked the large heart with 4 layers using my good glue ensuring the main heart image is on top. I then adhere the stacked smaller heart back onto the centre of the large heart then mat it on to some sage centura pearl  Card stock before adhering it on to a white card base.

I finished off the card with a white embossed  sentiment on a dark grey strip with stitching details that I had hand drawn using a white gel pen then added some colour matching half round pearls because I don’t feel complete without it 😝.

I loved how it turned out and enjoyed playing with some paint. My intention was to create a colourful splurge of colours bursting all over the heart image and off it. This die comes in 3 parts, the outer outline cutting die, the large heart and the smaller centre heart. You can die cut the heart out as a whole or die cut them separately to use different sections, which gives you the freedom to create in various styles. I chose to create a more simple and modern design with the dies.

Thanks for visiting and I hope you’ll find time to give this a go as I would love to see your version of some colour bursting cards.
